Sue Ann Berend, PhD, FACMG is the Owner and Laboratory Director of Xact Genetics, LLC. Dr. Berend is an ABMG-certified Clinical Cytogeneticist with over 16 years of experience in the Clinical Cytogenetics field. She obtained her PhD in Genetics at Texas A&M University and completed her post-doctoral work at Baylor College of Medicine, where she remained on as Assistant Director of the Kleberg Cytogenetics Laboratory and Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics. Dr. Berend continued her Clinical Cytogenetics work at Genzyme Genetics, where she worked for over 10 years. With knowledge gained from working at Baylor College of Medicine and Genzyme Genetics, she has gained experience in both the academic laboratory arena, as well as the commercial laboratory business. She has obtained and maintains director state licensure for Florida, California and New York.
Dr. Berend remains active in professional societies including the American Society of Human Genetics, the American College of Medical Genetics, and currently serves as the Secretary/Treasurer for the American Cytogenetics Conference.
